The Drag scene in Lebanon today is very prominent and thriving within the LGBTQ+ scene. However, that hasn’t always been the case. And the little knowledge that we have of the drag scene in the past comes from the lack of archiving and documentation of this underground community.
First Issue: A brief history of Drag
The first issue is as an introduction to Drag Culture. It helps give people an understanding and inform them of this community and how it began.
SECOND ISSUE: THE LEBANESE DRAG SCENE
The second issue of the series is the first issue that tackles the Lebanese Drag scene in specific.
It contains exclusive interviews with 6 local Queens, discussing their art and struggles in a country where being gay is still considered a crime.
Seeing that the drag community is always expanding, My Tea My Shade is a website with the purpose of creating an online community where we can discover new drag queens. In addition to that, these queens can document and archive their own journey.

The art of drag is a beautiful form of self expression and an outlet to free ourselves from society’s heteronormative norms. And in order to gain a better understanding of this art form, I delved into the world of drag with the help of an established drag queen, unraveling new parts of myself.
